Thiruvananthapuram : Heavy rains are forecast to last across Kerala for rest of the week up to Sunday. The central meteorological department issued orange alert for four districts where downpours would be heavy and winds high - Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur. These places are expected to receive rainfall of up to 20.4 cm in the next 24 hours.
The National Disaster Response Force has been alerted to the situation. Also, fisherfolks have been warned against venturing into the seas. Winds with speeds between 45- 55 kmph are expected to sweep through Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep.
