Thiruvananthapuram : Three women ministers are a first in the Kerala government history. Also historic is the number of new faces to be sworn in as ministers with only four including the Chief Minister being members of the previous cabinet.
Prof. R. Bindu and Veena George from CPI(M) and J Chinchu Rani. lend feminine face to the new cabinet. The previous cabinet comprised 2 woman ministers which at the time, too was a milestone in Kerala’s political history.
Only three from the present cabinet have been ministers before : Janata Dal’s K. Krishnan Kutty, NCP Minister and AK Saseendran were part of the Pinarayi govt. K Radhakrishnan too was a minister with the earlier govt until assuming the Speaker’s post later.
First-time MLAs comprise : P. Rajeev, KN Balagopal, R. Bindu, Mohammad Riyas, J Chinchu Rani, GR Anil, P Prasad and Ahmed Devarkovil of whom, P Rajeev and KN Balagopal are former Rajya Sabha members.
