Kottayam:Aware of the people’s mandate running against them, the Opposition is trying to hold up spreading lies and false accusations, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, adding that media that's obliged to reach people the truth is instead latching on to these allegations and acting like UDF allies, said CM at press conference during election campaign in Kottayam.
Leveling accusations has now become a routine habit with the Opposition, Media is doing their part to propagate these stores. Media is giving out wrong statistics of PSC appointments even as it is aware of its falsehood. The media should ask itself if it is doing right by functioning as UDF ally, said CM.
People at large are approaching polls based on their experience in the past 5 years. In 2016 people had a wish - wish for change and they also wished for LDF to bring about that change. In the period following, we were faced with floods and other crises that could not be ordinarily tided over. Though these crises lashed one after other without respite, the govt made sure to keep the state’s development goals on track. Projects did not recede and the govt did all it could in its powers. It is with this conviction that LDF approaches people for their mandate this time, said CM,
By contrast, the Congress, UDF and BJP have no grounds to approach polls. Hence they resort to means like lies and false allegations. Some are just used to churning up a new story each day. If an explanation is offered, they come up with another, and if one declines to comment, they cry foul. Anyway, these are all like house of cards that crumble one after another.
There are people here who had pushed cycle around and rode bullock carts, when fuel prices rose under Congress rule at centre. The memory is vivid in public mnd. Why aren’t those persons silent now ? It is Congress that hurt the masses by raising fuel prices first and BJP followed up that by smearing salt to their wounds to hurt them more.
Efforts are on to derail democracy by sale and purchase of votes. Certain underhand moves are happening toward elections this time too. Both, the winner and UDF’s defeated candidate have endorsed such deal in one voice.UDF helped BJP to open an account at Nemom. In exchange, BJP helped UDF win other places.
It is worth noting that BJP has no candidates in three constituencies. That’s part of their clandestine mutuality. At some places, they have installed candidates who will flip votes to the other side too. Still, people’s mandate largely appears to be on side of LDF, said CM.
