Thiruvananthapuram : There is no cause to worry over government's restructuring of minority scholarship ratio, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday. There will be no cuts in benefits related to scholarships and also, students currently availing scholarship benefits will continue to receive them unaffected. Further, the aggrieved sections will see resolution to their woes once the ratio is set proportionate to population statistics. The move will thus bring happiness to all concerned. This is why the Opposition Leader was among first to welcome the decision, said CM.
Context: The Kerala High Court ruled that government must take an equal view of all minorities in the state with regard to allocating scholarships. Following this, it was decided to restructure the minority student scholarship ratio based on 2011 population census - a decision that found majority support at the all-party meeting convened to discuss the topic.
