Thodupuzha : A Joseph faction candidate from Kerala Congress will contest upcoming Kuttanad by-election for UD, said MLA PJ Joseph on Saturday - a decision that could see the stand-off between the two sides escalate.
It was unlawful of Jose K Mani to convene a Steering Committee meeting in capacity of Chairman, Joseph told reporters in Thodupuzha. The Speaker is bound by law in deciding on a complaint involving whip violation, the Joseph added.
On the setback of losing the 2-leaf party symbol to Jose K Mani, PJ Joseph said Mani’s hands are rather tied-up and that an appeal against Election Commission’s verdict pending with the Court, will hopefully fetch a stay on the matter.
The Kuttanad seat fell vacant after the sitting legislator of Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) passed away last December.
