Thiruvananthapuram : Kerala becomes India’s first state to have hi-tech classrooms at all its public schools. The proud milestone was announced by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday. The Smart Classroom Project was worked to become reality using funds provided by KIIFB. The project was implemented by KITE – an agency under the Department for Public Education.
3,74,274 digital equipment were distributed across 16,027 schools in the project. 45,000 hi-tech classrooms came into being across 4752 high schools and higher secondary schools combined, in the first phase of the project. Apart from KIIFB aid, contributions from capital development funds of various legislators were also utilized to ready 45,000 hi-tech classrooms and labs at 11,275 primary and upper primary schools.
With this, all children in the state now can access education backed by new technologies, said CM. It is a proud feat; Govt was firm on its decision to provide quality education for every child; And, despite multiple floods and dreadful pandemic, we have been able to achieve that goal, said CM. Together in times ahead, we can raise our education system to loftier heights, the minister added.
India's First State With Hi-tech Classrooms In All Public Schools
A total of 3,74,274 digital equipment were distributed across state’s 16,027 public schools. 4752 HS and HSS equipped with hi-tech classrooms. Hi-tech labs set up at 11,275 primary and upper primary schools. Broadband internet equipment with 5-year warranty and insurance cover provided to 12,678 aided schools in the state. Rs 750.5 crore was assigned from KIIFB alone to set up complaint cell and call centres. 1,83,400 ITC-teachers too are part of the milestone achievement.
