Nilambur : Seven relief camps have been set up in Nailambur after river Chaliyar and several of its tributaries breached embankments following heavy downpours in the region.
Over 410 people including women and children from 105 families were shifted to the camps. Also, 153 residents from colonies in Mundakayaum and Nedunkayam were evacuated to safer locations.
Relief shelters set up newly include camps atat Erumamund Nirmala HSS, Pulpadam GLPS and Bhadhranam GLPS in Karumalangod village; GHS Edakara, Uchakulam Tribal LP School, Nambuthiripoti Dhuva College, Karulayi GLPS in Edakarra village; and Karulayi GLPS in Pullivil.
