Thiruvananthapuram : At a time when students are forced to learn from confines of their homes, lets together move forward to build a new world, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurating the school admissions fest online Tuesday morning. The new world is the world of children – a world that would be shaped by them with newer knowledge, ideas and art.
With children stranded indoors owing to Covid conditions, digital education was a successful model introduced by Kerala for its public schools last year. It has been endeavoured to conduct digital classes effectively this time too. Children can listen and watch their teachers take class Live. Online learning does not have to be a dull affair as teaching gets livelier mixed with music, sports and such other creative subjects , said CM.
This is the sixth academic year inaugural since becoming Chief Minister of Kerala. In the initial four years, inaugural was held amid hundreds of little children, their guardians and others at colourful venue with flying balloons, recalled CM.
In the inaugural event held at Cotton Hill school in the capital, Education Minister V. Sivankutty presided over the ceremony. Also in attendance were Ministers Antony Raju, GR Anil, Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran and Public Education Secretary APM Haneesh.
Owing to prevailing pandemic, admissions are being done online. The inaugural events were live streamed on KITE-Victers Channel. Mammooty, Mohanlal, poet Sachithandan, Sreekumaran Thambi, Prithviraj, Suraj VEnjaramoodu, PT Usha and other celebrities came up with greetings for the children.
“Killikonjal (Chirp of Birds) Classes” for anganwadi students began 10.30 am.
UN’s Head of Natural Disaster wing, Dr. Murali Thummarukutty, magician Gopinath Muthucaud, Police Advisor from UNICEF Dr. Piyush Anton and others will respond to questions from children beginning 11 am today at the online fest with participation from an estimated 45 lakh students.
