Thiruvananthapuram : In its meeting held Wednesday, the state cabinet lend nod for the government to purchase vaccines directly from pharma companies in order to be able to inoculate its population above 18. The meeting decided to place order for 1 crore vaccines split into 70 lakh of Covishield and 30 lakh Covaxin. 10 lakh of the bulk will be purchased in May. The state govt recently held talks with manufacturers in this regard.
The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan agreed there exist lockdown-like conditions in the state, It however decided against imposing a real lockdown though approving stricter restrictions in days ahead if found necessary.
