Thiruvananthapuram : Owing to high surges in Covid infections, statewide lockdown has been extended for another one week. The decision for extension up to 23rd is due to high test positivity rate prevailing in the state, said Chief Minister at media briefing on Friday. It’s Triple Lockdown hard-hit districts namely Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Malappuram and Thrissur. Extended Including Triple Lockdown will comes into force from 16 of May when the ongoing shutdown expires, said CM.
Special measures will be implemented to tide over the second wave crisis including free provision kits and pensions,, said CM.
People are bound to feel stressed out with lockdown lengthening further. New measures are being formulated to alleviate distresses by evaluating experiences from first wave lockdown, said CM
Essential grocery kits will distributed in June too. The social security pensions for May will be distributed shortly. Rs 823.23 crore will be used for the purpose. Persons who might be members of various welfare fund boards will get Rs 1000 each as well.
Boards that lack money of their own will be aided by government funding. BPL families not benefited by any welfare board fund will receive Rs 1000 in one-time aid, said CM.
