Thiruvananthapuram : People cooperated to a large extent with triple lockdown clamped on 4 districts following huge surges of Covid infections in these regions. Districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Thrissur, Malappuram and Ernakulam went under triple lock since midnight of Sunday Other districts are on strict restrictions as well. Except for a few persons who expressed inconvenience majority of the public cooperated with the curbs, indicating determination to fight this war against Covid, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
Borders were sealed at districts under triple lockdown. Only movement of essential commodities and services were let through. Inner roads were largely made one-way. The only travels allowed were for persons going to fetch grocery, vegetables, meat, fish and bakery items. 20 throughfares in the capital were fully closed. Essential shops except medical shops will stay open up to 2 pm only.
1928 cases have been registered so far for violating lockdowns, 972 were arrested, 764 vehicles seized, 6742 people booked for maskless travel and 95 for violating gathering curbs.
