Kerala Will Not Say “No” To Knowledge; Kerala Affirms “Yes”

Thiruvananthapuram : “Kerala will not say ”no” to knowledge; Kerala affirms ‘yes’” - a packed audience broke into applause at Asia’s larges girls’ school at these words,  as Chief Minster Pinarayi Vijayan lit the ceremonial lamp inaugurating additional text books prepared by the State for Plus I and Plus II that contains texts on Gandhi’s assassination, democracy and secularism that NCERT had removed from curriculum. Public Educattion Minister V Sivankutty presided at the functions. Students Shivani Priya, Devika, Balakrishna and Ansil Ahmed received the books.

Children should be imparted education rooted in facts and science and one that upholds humanity, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in his address at the release of added textbooks for High Secondary classes covering portions of history omitted by the NCERT.

Portions were removed from History, Political Science, Economics and Sociology texts. Six additional texts in four subjects were released to incorporate the NCERT  removals. Mughal rule, Industrial Revolution, India’s Partition etc have been  incorporated into the additional textbook of  History text while Gandhiji’s martyrdom, 5-year Plans, Indian movement etc were contained in the Political Science text.
