THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Kerala would be on the forefront when it comes to protecting the Constitution and fundamental rights, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the capital today. Kerala’s plea at the Supreme Court calling to scrap the Citizenship Amendment Act, is part of its revolt within the legal framework to do away with a law that runs against the principles established by the constitution, he said.
Kerala was first among States to declare that, the discriminative CAA will not be implemented on its soil. It was also the first to get its Legislative Assembly pass a resolution against the controversial law. Kerala then urged chief ministers in other states to pass similar resolutions in their Houses and stand united in the fight to preserve fundamentals of our Constitution.
The outcry we hear is united voices of the people. Kerala will explore all it takes, to uphold democracy and principles integral to it, the Chief Minister.
