The minister also warns of death rates spiking, should  hospitals and other health systems in the state get overwhelmed by more cases than can be handled.

The Health Department has scaled up all measures to mitigate the spread and it would help if more people joined the covid preventive brigade, the minister said.

More than 8000 healthcare workers have been appointed; over 800 first-line covid centres set up across the state and hospital facilities upped since the outbreak.  Covid brigade was formed to include more health workers and currently requires larger numbers of  allopathy, ayurveda and   homeopathic practitioners apart from dental surgeons, nurses, paramedics and those with degree in MSW, MBA, ASC and MHA.
