Kochi: Minister KK Shailaja responded to Live video posted by Sajana, a transgender, on her grievance that she was prevented from being able to work and live.
A gang of miscreants in Kochi had forced Sajana and her transgender friends to shut down a roadside biryani stall they set up for a living. In the video, Sajana says they approached police in the matter but to no avail and pleads that authorities help and come to their rescue.
As the footage got viral on social media, the minister took notice stepped in with assurance. “Called up Sajana and assured safety and help,” wrote KK Shailaja on her Facebook page.

“Police will ensure needed protection. I have asked for action against concerned attackers. Sajana will receive emergency money in aid from “We Care” scheme under Social Security Project run by the Social Justice Department.
Like men and women, the transgenders too are citizens having equal rights in the society. And, none shall be allowed to humiliate them.” - KK Shailaja
