Kochi: The land acquisition for Kochi-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor would be completed by December this year, said Industries Minister, P Rajeev. The land acquisition for GIFT project is so designed that only a very few houses would be affected, said the minister on Saturday.
Minimal Impact: Around 300 houses faced potential de-existence in the original land acquisition slated for Gift City Project. However, the District Collector was entrusted to work out plan such that only a few and minimal houses would be affected, said the minister.
A meeting was held Saturday to discuss the industrial corridor project. Chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the meeting was attended by KINFRA MD and Collectors from Ernakulam and Palakkad. Land acquisition will begin after court hearing of related petitions on 7 and 8th following which, a meeting of legislators shall be held, said CM.
International Trade Centre : Minister Rajeev said, the international Trade Centre located in Kakkanad will became operational in one-and-half-years. The construction, due to complete in two phases, will help small-scale merchants sell their ware in international markets. The first phase is estimated to cost Rs 30 crores, the minister said.
Amballur Electronics Park : Land acquistion hurdles blocking the Amaballur Electronic Park project will be looked into in two weeks. All issues will be resolved and project completed in three years from now, the minister told reporters.
Kalamasserry Startup Hub: The Startup Hub at Kalamaserry under IT Department is being expanded to become the country’s largest Startup centre, the minister said.
“One District, One Product” Scheme: An aid of Rs 10 lakh will be provided for pineapple-based agricultural products under “One District One Product” scheme. A total of 104 business initiatives will be set up across 14 districts under the scheme, said P Rajeev. The minister was speaking at the media briefing convened at Ernakulam Press Club after the meeting.
