Thrissur: BJP state president K Surrendran will be questioned by police investigation team on Wednesday in connection with the havala money smuggled into the state for the party’s election purposes and subsequently robbed by insiders. Surendran will appear before the special probe team at Police Club in Thrissur at 10 am. Although a notice was issued asking to appear on 2 June, Surendran had failed to show up. A notice was re-issued.
Incriminating testimonies from the havala money carrier Dharmarajan and BJP Alappuzha District Treasurer KG Karta led officials to suspect Surendan’s role in the crime. The officers questioned 15 BJP leaders including District President and State Organising Secretary. Meanwhile, the Magistrate Court in Irinjalakuda adjourned hearing of Dharmarajan’s petition seeking to have all money seized by officials in the case. The plea will be heard on the 17th.
