Thrissur: Crucial information has emerged linking BJP leadership to Kodakkara havala case. The hotel rooms where the robbery gang lodged was booked by BJP District office. The hotel employyes gave statement towards this.
The district office had booked a room with 3 cots. The probe team ran through the hotel’s register and CCTV footages before securing the hotel staff testimony.
On Wednesday, the Alappuzha District Secretary, KG Karta, confessed to his involvement in Kodakkara case, where havala money sent for BJP’s election purposes were looted by the party men themselves. Havala courier, Dharmaraj, confessed that cash was consigned to him by former Yuva Morcha state treasurer Sunil Naik who asked for it to be delivered to District President Karta. And though Kartha initially maintained he had nothing to do with the havala robbery, he eventually confessed to involvement when confronted with evidence of his calls to various culprits in the case.
Meanwhile, police also obtained information tying high-level leaders to the case.
Police in their raid on the house of the 6th accused, Martin, unearthed Rs 3 lakh rupees of cash and Rs 10 lakh worth or recently purchased goodies. Martin had cash-purchased a Innova car for Rs 3 lakh and Rs. 10 lakhs of gold after the robbery. Including the money deposited with the bank, police seized Rs 19.5 lakhs from him With this, total money confiscated from culprits in the case climbed to Rs. 1.3 crores
