Thiruvananthapuram : The State Secretariat appointed Polit Bureau member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan as Deshabhimani Chief Editor. The appointment cane in the wake of incumbent Chief Editor P. Rajeev set to become minister.
Kodiyeri has served as Home and Tourism minister between 2006 and 2011 and later became the Deputy Opposition Leader in the 13th Kerala Legislative Assembly. Kodiyeri represented Thalassery constituency from 2001 to 2016. In the CPI(M) 21st State Conference held in Alappuzha in February 2015, Kodiyeri was elected as the party’s State Secretary the first time . Then at the 22nd party state convention held on 26th Feb, 2018 in Thrissur, Kodiyeri was once again elected as CPI(M) State Secretary. However, following health issues, the veteran removed himself from the post in mid-2020.
