Thiruvananthapuram : High Command cedes to “non-cooperation protests” from Groups over appointing Opposition Leader in what is considered as unilateral decision. The new candidate to fill the KPCC president post shall now be decided for only after there is conciliation restored among leaders. Sonia Gandhi urged for patience saying there was no haste for the appointment - a sentiment that comes on the back of a flood of complaints from the various group managers.

Embittered leaders namely Chennithala, Oomen Chandy and Mullappally Ramachandran will be called for talks by Tariq Anvar, who is in charge of Kerala chapter. Tariq is expected to touchdown Kerala once the lockdown is over. High Command will examine Tariq’s  report post the talks and decide on who should be appointed as KPCC President. The High Command’s softened stand comes in the wake of “A- I” Groups and senior leaders’ growing resentful over appointment of the new Opposition Leader.

Chauhan Committee Left In The Lurch
The Ashok Chauhan Committee appointed to study reasons for Congress debacle in Kerala had submitted its report to the High Command, during the preparation of which the party seniors largely remained un-cooperative.  Oomen Chandy had maintained that he would offer an opinion only if asked for specifically while Chennithala and Mullappally choose to simply stay mum. Sonia Gandhi intervened in the matter  sensing the silent threat in their view that decisions were taken without consulting leaders, hence let High Command  take on consequences as well.
