Thiruvananthapuram : The degree certificate held by KSU State Convener Anzil Jalil is fake, confirmed Kerala University Vice Chancellor Mohanan Kunummel to the media. The matter was made clear at the very beginning, it is up to te police to take the matter, he added.
When a fake certificate gets submitted, it is police responsibility to file FIR and take action that might include arrest. It’s now in the purview of University powers to do that. The University examined and clarified the document was fake, said Mohanan Kunnumel.
In the incident, the KSU leader fabricated a Kerala University degree certificate for himself. The name of the degree holder appears as Anzil Jalil - a KC Venugopal loyalist. Anzil reportedly secured a job with a money transfer firm in Alappuzha using the fake certificate and passing off as a BCom degree holder of 2016 batch from Kerala University.
The certificate was prepared by misuse if the university’s official emblem, logo, seal and the signature of the Vice Chancellor of University of Kerala. PK Radhakrishnan was Kerala University VC from 2014 to 2018 while the signature on the certificate is that of Dr. KM Ramachandran Nair who was Chancellor between 2004 to 2008.
There’s discrepancy in registration number on the certificate.. While the University assigned register numbers staring with 4044 that year, Anzil’s certificate number is 962039.
In the Anzil’s certificate of 2013 the registration number is 622087 while the University assigned numbers starting with ‘70’ that year. Als, the last part of the certificate should bear the same years however, However, in Anzil’s case, the year is printed as 2014.
The registration number on the 2016 certificate is 80247. The number beginning “80” was issued for students who wrote exam after repeatedly failing to pass(mercy chance). The last time University allowed mercy chance in the given subject was in 2015 and 2017.
The subject in certificate is given as “Taxation Law and Practice”. Subject by this title was taught in the 1996 scheme.
Meanwhile, Anzil distanced himself from the apparent offence saying he has nothing to do with the certificates and that a inside group set against him is behind the whole issue.
