Thiruvananthapuram : The government will ensure that police take appropriate measures to find facts in the Kundara molestation complaint and follow it up with rightful action, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in reply to the adjournment motion moved by PC Vishnunath. Also, the State DGP will probe into accusation of delay on part of police in Kundara to register the case, CM added.
The complainant visited Kundara police station personally to make her case, said CM. Among other things, the complaint cited a host of online propaganda that portrayed her in bad light including an audio clip circulated on social media by a man named Padmakaran and a phone conversation posted into a WhatsApp group named “NCP Kollam” by a Ernakulam man Rajiv. Earlier, the woman’s Facebook profile picture and her name was stolen to create a fake account and used to propagate falsified messages. One day while walking along the road, Padmakaran called her to his shop at Mukkad Junction and asked how much money she had received to contest elections. To this, the woman reportedly replied that contesting was not for money and Prabakaran allegedly clutched her hand, said CM.
Following a complaint in that regard, both the woman and Prabakaran were summoned to the police station. On that day, Prabakaran showed up at the station however, the complainant failed to turn up. When the woman showed up later, police quizzed her on the complaint details and although they tried to figure out the derogatory online messages, none could be spotted. The police report that states, that the police had convinced the woman there was need for detailed investigations into the complaint, said CM.
The woman’s complaint has been registered numbered 1176/21 and includes charges under section 354, 509 and 34 if IPC. The complainant is daughter of a NCP leader and the accused is an NCP worker. The NCP minister has clarified in public earlier that he had looked into the arguments raging between the two, said CM in the reply.
