THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : In a huge relief to Malayali NRIs, Kuwait Airlines cut down its rates on air tickets after Norka Roots and Kuwait Airlines arrived at a consensus on the matter. An agreement to the effect, was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, between Chief Executive Officer K Harikrishnan Namboodiri and Kuwait Airways Sales Manager Sudhir Mehta for the purpose.
Based on the agreement, Malayalis travelling by Kuwait Airlines will be eligible for a flat 7% discount on their ticket tickets. This benefit known as ‘Norka Fare” shall be allowed for members with Norka Id, their spouse and children below 18 years of age. To thousands of middle-east expats –the backbone of the State economy - Norka Fare would spell relief given that air travel rates forever keeps surging from high to higher.
The discount will apply from 20 Feb. Norka Roots had entered into similar agreement with Oman Airways under the title Norka Fare. Procedures for its renewal is nearly complete.
The Kuwait Airlines Norka Fare function was hosted at Chief Minister’s Office on Tuesday. It was attended among others by Norka Department Principle Secretary K Elankovan, Joint Secretary K Jnardhanan and Norka Roots General Manager D Jagdeesh.
The air tickets under Norka Fare can be booked online on Kuwait Airline website by selecting India Sales Office option. Promo Code 20 can be used for the purpose, the CEO informed.
