Palakkad : Landslide in Palakkayam on Pandanamala hills triggered flooding of homes and shops in the area and heavy waterlogging in the upper region of the Kanjirpuzha dam. The river has swollen with the sudden influx of water. Fire Force rescuers soon hit the scene to help anyone who might be stranded in the villages.
3 shutters of Danjirapuzha Dam were raised by 20 cm each owing to heavy downpour in the catchment area of Mannarkkad. It has been ages, since the upper region of the dam, namely Palakkayam town, is experiencing such heavy water-logging. The village officer and Fire Force officials were quick to respond to the situation.
The District Collector assured residents there was no cause for worry and only caution should be exercised just in case there are more mudslides.
