Thiruvananthapuram : The government will provide digital accessories to all students who might need them for studies, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. However, they are made available through prescribed channels - the reason why there occurs some delays occasionally, said CM in the Assembly.
In a reply to the House Wednesday morning, the Education Minister V Sivankutty said the re-tendering for the Vidyakikarnam project was in progress. At the time when the project took off, there were 4.7 lakh students needing digital accessories. That figure has now come down to 3.53 lakh, the minister said.
45,313 laptops have been distributed among students from schedule caste/schedule tribe communities so far. The distribution was carried out smooth without any kind of hassle, said V Sivankutty. The project shall be completed within scheduled time, ; the funding did not come through as expected owing to Covid conditions, the minister added.
On Plus I admissions, the minister said, that seats will be ensured for all aspiring students. Currently, transfer process for students who took admissions are underway, the minister added.
