Palakkad: After swearing-in ceremony concluded at Palakkad municipality, the LDF councillors made their way out flashing national flag and slogans to uphold secularism. In provocation, a group led by BJP’s party’s national committee member N Sivarajan raised slogans of “ Jai Sree Ram”.
Police attempts to remove BJP workers from causing further ruckus resulted in clashes, forcing cops to resort to lathi charge, after which, BJP took out demonstrations through Palakkad town. Police teams headed by DySP Saseekumar have camped in the area.
Context: On the counting day post elections, BJP had hoisted “Jai Sree Ram” banners in the premises of the constitutional establishment., DYFI workers soon arrived at the scene and hoisted the national flag in its place. Police at that time, registered case against BJP workers over the incident.
