THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : LDF State Committee in its meeting on Friday, decided to broaden collective protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act(CAA) – the law that discriminates people based on their religions. The meeting was presided by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
The mega human chain organized by LDF on Republic Day witnessed unprecedented participation from the public. The event drew people in lakhs to link hands against Centre’s designs to divide the society. As part of making anti-CAA protests more widespread, home visits shall be carried out in every Ward from 10 March up to 20th. Family gatherings too shall be organsied.
The endeavour is aimed to impart greater awareness in order to mobilise both, members of LDF and those outside it. In continued protest, on Bhagat Singh Martyrdom Day of March 23rd, various programmes themed around protecting constitution, shall be organized at headquarters of every local self-governing body.
While LDF organized several demonstrations to unite people against Centre’s divisive law, UDF chooses to stay away from these efforts. However, UDF’s reluctance to join in for a national cause has in no way dampened the spirit of the masses - a fact evident from enormous public participation witnessed in all the protest events organized by LDF, said LDF convener Vijay Raghavan at the meeting
