Puthupally : Former Chief Minister Oomen Chandy did his schooling at St. George Government VHS in Puthupally. However, it took LDF government to upgrade and give it the state-of-the-art makeover.
The school was started in 1917 and lay more or less in same condition since. Buildings costing Rs 5 crore in construction now towers at the spot. There are 50 classrooms and a science lab too.
With improvisations to the school, the number of admissions too have risen in recent years. The school is on way to becoming the most outstanding one in Puthupally, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
