Legitimate Service Made Out To Be “Monthly Pay-off”; Media News Fully Deviant From Facts : CPI(M)

Thiruvananthapuram : Media news of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s daughter accepting pay-off has no basis in truth, the CPI(M) State Secretariat clarified in its statement. An agreement for providing services had been entered into between two legitimate firms and the payment was only part of that contract. Besides the  payment is question  is annual in nature even as the media has quoted it as monthly and  described it as ‘pay-off’. It comes as no surprise that the falsified  news was spun by no other than  Malayala Manorama that declared it would commit suicide by poison if Communists came to power.

The contract in context  is a transparent one and all of its transactions  have been carried out exclusively through banks. This transaction is being however portrayed as monthly pay-off (masapadi).  In reality, a company by the name CMRL approached the Interim Settlement Board for remedying a Income Tax dispute. Veena Vijayan’s company is not a part is this case at all and and naturally have not been at hearing of the case. However, there’s a frantic conspiracy to connect the two entities  with eye on upcoming Puthupally by-election.

Children of politicians are entitled to same right as any citizen to take up legitimate occupation. Veena set up a consulting company, all the operations of which are transparent.  The company that made the payment has itself cleared there’s nothing untoward. And there’s greater clarity that  the Chief Minister has nothing to do with any of it.

What took place is eking out a political leverage from Income Tax matter pertaining to the company. In the past few years, the Central government and its agencies are looking to hound family members of political opponents. We are seeing this happen in Telangana and Bihar. The conspiracy to somehow drag Chief Minister’s name into the Settlement Order of the company, is amply clear. Especially so when what was said was said without so much as seeking comment from Veena. The surprising element is that the news made name references in a Court Order that has fully exempted the concerned company from further proceedings and fine.

It has been a while now that the right-wing media in Kerala presents news handed by Central agencies after adding their own spice and lies to it. These are the very entities that consistently refuse to protest against deterrent policies of the Centre. That then is the backdrop against which this news should be viewed. Kerala is land where incredible lies like Kamala International, ‘palace-like’ house, 100 trips to Singapore and so forth have crumbled to pieces. The propaganda spun during last Assembly elections failed hold water. This tale too will  find its way to the trash-bin eventually, said CPIM) in its statement.
