Thiruvananthapuram : CCTV footage crumbles fake allegation of Malappuram native Haridasan that he paid bribe to personal staff of Health Minister Veena George. Surveillance video shows the complainants Haridasan and Basid spend some time in front of main entrance to the Secretariat on 10 April and then walk away. In the visuals secured by the police, the duo are seen hanging around the gate after noon and retrace their steps soon after.
The bogus claim: Haridas and Basid lodged complaint claiming the former paid Rs 1 lakh in bribe to personal staff of Health Minister Veena George, Akhil Mathew on 10 April around 3:00 pm. The money, Haridas said, was on promise of a temporary job for his daughter-i-law as Medical Officer with Ayush Mission.
Soon as complaint was filed and investigations began, visual evidence emerged in form a wedding video in Pathanamthitta. It showed Akhil Mathew attending his cousin’s marriage function right from 2:30 pm well into late evening on the same day. Following visual proofs contradicting his story, Haridasan said he suffered from blurred vision and was unsure who he had paid the money to.
