Thiruvananthapuram : An assessment meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan decided to effect changes to prevailing lockdown rules in the state. The decisions shall be informed to the Assembly. The changed rules were decided for as per opinions and instructions suggested by prominent health experts and various departmental heads.
According to sources, TPR-based imposition of lockdown will go and get replaced by micro-containment zone based on number of confirmed cases reported from the area. Also, weekend lockdown will give way to total lockdown on just Sunday Saturday will see greater relaxations. Businesses shall be allowed to operate for longer hours and also, shops would be allowed more working days than only Monday, Wednesday and Friday openings allowed presently.
In areas with high infection numbers, testing shall be intensified and wider quarantine imposed based on contract tracing. Surveillance shall be intensified to prevent crowding and ensure adherence to Covid rules.
