New Delhi : The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted 2-month bail for former IT Secretary M. Sivasankar on health grounds. The Enforcement Directorate(ED) opposed the bail saying Sivasankar would be provided necessary medical treatment while in custody.
However the court brushed that aside and consented to Sivasankar’s plea informing of urgent surgery required for backbone. In granting of bail, the court warned to not misuse the freedom or attempt to influence witnesses in the case.
Sivasankar is currently in jail over accusation that he accepted bribe from owner of Unitech company, Santhosh Eapan, toward LIFE mission and that the money recovered from Swapna Suresh's locker formed part of that sum.
