Manorama’s Fake News on CPI(M) Explodes On Social Media

Web Desk‌Updated: Sunday Dec 1, 2019

THIIRUVANANTHAPURAM : Manorama’s wishful news on CPI(M) backing the 3-party-alliance to form govt in Maharashtra, has sparked an explosion of mockery on the social media.

Malayala Manorama on 27 Nov brought out a 'news'  titled “Mahasakyathinu CPI(M) Pinthunn   ( Maha Coalition Finds CPI(M) Support) ”.   Other  media toed in line unwittingly and carried  its publicity further.

Following the splash, Maharashtra’s lone CPI(M) MLA Vinod Nikole and state level committee came out with clarification. The news is false. No MLA or representative from CPI(M) attended the crucial Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress combine meeting held on 26th November at Hotel Trident, where the coalition to form new govt, was discussed and decided by consenting allies, they said.

In fact, while Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena MLAs holed up their MLAs and several independents in varied hotels,  to prevent  horse trading by BJP, Vinod Nikole stayed out in the open, amidst his people organizing rallies, indicative of  his unpoachable status.

Incidentally, Manorama’s blunder stems from Governor’s letter to Thackeray in which, CPI(M) was  inadvertently mentioned as  supporter to the trio combine.
