Kochi: : Ridicule snowballed on social media poking Mullappally's ’ statement that kids lesser in age than mayor Arya Rajendran have fought elections successfully. The KPCC president’s comment backfired when scores of users citing that 21 was the minimal age for contesting polls. Incidentally, Mullapally’s remark came even as 21-year-old CPI(M) candidate who won from 11th ward of in Konnis, Aruvapulam is the youngest on record to have fought elections so far.
Mullapally Quote:
“ In the local body elections this time, the Indian National Congress party gave opportunity for a large number of new faces to contest polls. The numbers speak for it.. The winning candidate from Thiruvananthapuram has been appointed as mayor. Sevaral lesser than age 21 have contested and won polls this time around.
However, none of that matters. CPI(M) party wants to pitch up marketing propping up that kid. That however is not the Indian National Congress’s approch. Our aim is to identify youngsters, entrust them with responsibilities and march them forward.
In the coming Assembly elections, UDF seeks to reap a cent percent victory. The front will evaluate setbacks suffered in the local body elections in its way forward.”
