Kannur > Renowned Mappila Song Artist and playback singer Eranjoli Moosa(75) passed away on monday. Moosa who was under treatment for pulmonary diseases breathed his last at his residence in Gopalpet near Thalassery.

Eranjoli Moosa was best known for his live performances of Mappila Songs which earned him over 300 concerts in the middle east. No other Mappila Song artist has performed in as many venues in Gulf countries. He has been serving as the Vice President of Kerala Folklore Academy. He has also played a notable role in the Movie Gramaphone. He penned the lyrics of his famous Mappila song "Manikya Malaraya Poovi'- which was trending once again after it was used in a movie recently. 

Moosa was under treatment in a private hospital in Kozhikode for a month. The disease also affected his voice, after which he was shifted to his residence following the direction of doctors. He was survived by his by wife Kunjami. Children: Naseera, Nisar, Sadique, Samim, Sajida.
