Kozhikode : The Vigilance court on Friday dismissed former Muslim League MLA’s plea for having Vigilance return him the money they seized from his residence.
The Vigilance had confiscated Rs 47.35 lakh in cash during their raid of Shaji’s house in connection with bribery and disproportionate wealth case against him. Today’s verdict came over Shaji’s petition, where he claimed the cash was legitimate money collected toward election fund. He had submitted records to the court recently in a bid to sustain his claim. However, the court expressed doubts over their genuineness and asked Shaji if the Election Commission permits receipts to to tune of Rs 20,000 each for purpose of election funds.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Shaji will knock the High Court doors to test luck with his refund bid.
