Thiruvananthapuram : In a meeting of Medical College principals and superintendents, Health Minister Veena George said steps would be taken to set up material collection facilities in medical colleges toward waste management this financial year itself. The new facility is a system that disposes small and large waste, except biomedical waste, deploying scientific treatment.
A Housekeeping department will be started in Medical Colleges for coordinating cleaning works. Select Medical Colleges would be made part of the Medical Hub. It was announced at Budget time to convert Kerala into a health hub, aimed to provide medical care to those seeking quality treatment from outside Kerala and country. The Medical Colleges must make needful arrangements toward this, the minister said.
10 Principals joined Medical Colleges newly. On instructions of the Minister, the Medical Education Dept held a 2-day training programme for them. The meeting was convened for added smoothness in the functioning of Medical Colleges.
