Kozhikode : As moves  to destroy the country’s constitution play out on one side, it becomes  important to have to be staying guard and that role assumes special  significance for the Left media, said  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Deshabhimani fills that obligation to the very fullest, added CM, speaking at the 80th anniversary celebrations of Deshabhimani   at Sarovaram Calicut Trade Centre on Tuesday.

In the circumstances we have today, the Left media, including Deshabhimani, are burdened  with added responsibilities to fulfill. Deshabhimani is able to meticulously tell its readers all the information they must equipped with.  The newspaper has endeared itself to finding acceptance  even among the Left’s political enemies.

Several political parties in our state have mouthpieces of their own. However, competition for Deshabhimani does not lie in that genre. Rather Deshabhimani  surges competing  with dailies fuelled by commercialism. If the current steam is upkept,  Deshabhimani could transform to becoming the state’s most popular newspaper, said CM.

Jnanpith Award recipient, PT Vasudevan,  was Chief Guest at the function.  Deshabhimani Chief Editor, Puthalath Dinesan presided over. Other prominent names in attendance comprised General Manager KJ Thomas, CPI(M) State Secretariat member TP Ramksrishnan MLA, John Brittas MP, former Indian football star IM Vijayan, Deshabhimani magazine Editor Dr. KP Mohanan, Welcome Committee Chairman and so forth.
