Thiruvananthapuram : The DGP on Wednesday clarified there was no case registered against anyone in the microphone botch up that occurred during Chief Minister’s address at Late Oomen Chandy’s commemoration event. CM Pinarayi Vijayan too confirmed there would be no further proceeding in the incident.
At the said event on Tuesday, the mike went mute as Chief Minister began speaking and it was suspected the glitch was deliberate handiwork. As CM rose to speak, a few in the audience started to shout slogans. Leaders were quick to intervene and calm resumed. Then as CM began to speak, the mike malfunctioned and nothing could be heard. Following the incident, the mike and amplifier were taken for testing. The DGP informed that no case has been registered in the incident.
The City DCP V. Ajith said mikes do not malfunction at events attended by VIPs and that the case was registered only to carry out technical checks on instruments. The mikes at important events are y fixed at venues after technical checks by the PWD’s Electronic Division. Only a double check of the mike was to be done. There’s no one charged in the case, the DCP rieterated. .
The owner of the sound systems, Ranjit, said the mike, microphone and other equipment, taken for testing were returned to him.
