COIMBATORE: Ministers arrive at Comimbatore’s Avinashi where the early-morning accident today involving KSRTC Volvo and lorry, killed 20 people and left several injured, some of who are reportedly critical.
Transport Minister AK Saseendran and Agriculture Minister VS Sunil Kumar reached the crash site a while ago. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan instructed Palakkad District Collector to ensure arrangements for administering best medical care to the injured and for those dead, speedy transportation of the bodies back to their homes. CM also called for a comprehensive report on the crash, from Transport Minister AK Saseendran and KSRTC MD.
KSRTC Volvo that left Bengaluru last evening was headed for for Ernakulam, when a container lorry loaded with tiles rammed into it, early this morning 3 am at Combatore’s Avanashi. 20 people have died in the incident and several sustained injured, some of them serious. According to preliminary findings, a sudden bursting of the truck tyre reportedly led to the crash.
11 among the deceased passengers were identified : Ragesh(35) from Plakkad; Jeshamon Sahu(24) from Ervaroor; Naseef Muhammad Ali(24) from Thrissur,; Baiju(47) from Arakonam; Aiswarya (28), Igni Rafel(39) from Thrissur; Kiran Kumar (33); Haneesh(25) from Thrissur; Shivakumar (35) from Ottapalam and Gireesh(29) from Ernakulam.
Most persons among the dead are Malayalis and had reserved tickets to Palakkad, Thrissur and Ernakulam.
