MLA Shaji’s House Cost Rs 1.6 Cr In Construction; Says Kozhikode Corporation In Its Report To ED

Kozhikode : Muslim League MLA, K.M.  Shaji,  incurred Rs 1.6 crore in building   the palatial house he owns in the district, said Kozhikode Corporation in a report  it submitted to the Enforcement Directorate(ED). With regard to costs of interiors and furnishing, the corporation report suggested that PWD was better positioned to make that evaluation.

The records and details pertaining to the MLA’s residences at Kozhikode and Kannur were handed over to ED on Tuesday. Incidentally, the report points to a gaping discrepancy in terms of area. The house on Shaji’s wife Asha’s name located in Kozhikode’s Maloorkunnu  was applied for size  3200 sq ft, while  on measurement, the house came to a neat 5420 sq ft in area. Some portions on the 2nd floor and some on the 1st   are illegal construction,  says the report.

The details pertaining to KM Shaji’s house in Kannur’s Challad, was handed over to ED by Panchayat Secretary TP Unnikrishnan. The construction cost of the house measuring 2,325 sq ft was estimated to have been   Rs 28 lakhs.Representatives of Azhikode Co-op Bank and PTA office bearers of Azhikode High School submitted  records there to ED.

 KM Shaji is due to appear for ED questioning round on  10th of November.
