New Delhi : Punjab DGP gets notice over security lapse involving farmers blockading Prime Minister’s convoy while on visit to the state. The notice was issued by the investigation team appointed to probe the lapse and the state chief must revert with a reply before 5 pm Saturday, failing which would invoke disciplinary action.
The Supreme Court intervened in the issue of security breach and directed Punjab-Haryana High Court Registrar to call for and preserve documents pertaining to PM’s Punjab visit.
The apex court on Monday will hear plea seeking independent probe into the incident. The court also stayed investigations ordered by the Punjab government meanwhile.
Farmers from varied organisations blocked PM’s convoy on Wednesday afternoon following which the rally scheduled to be addressed by PM was cancelled.
