Thiruvananthapuram : Monsoon in state intensifies and heavy rains are predicted to last for next few days. Six districts are put on Yellow Alert, namely : Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram and Kozhikode.
Heavy downpours are expected across districts up to Friday, the Indian Meteorological Dept(IMD) informed. Also, winds along Karnataka and Kerala shores could at times gust up to 50 kmph, owing to which fisherfolks are prohibited from taking to seas.
Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kozhikode have Yellow Alert for Tuesday too and districts Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Malappuram and Kozhikode are issued Yellow for Thursday as well.
