Thiruvananthapuram : More than 8000 will join teaching jobs in public schools in the new academic year. Those in receipt of appointment order or PSC recommendations will enter employment as part of filling existential vacancies, new posts, aided school retirement slots, death vacancies etc and finally realize their lifetime dream job.
Owing to pandemic conditions , there were no physical classes remained shut in the academic year of 2020. As per KER, new appointments can be made only after regular school reopening with physical classes. That hurdle was tided over, making it possible for the waiting appointees to join work as soon as schools reopened virtually. All appointments made by aided schools during 2020 to fill vacancies at the time will also gain government recognition. 4642 teachers will receive this kind of approvals. A majority of the vacancies getting filled pertain to schools locked by UDF government that cited losses as reason for closures. The LDF government reviewed student-teacher ratios to calculate new posts required. Subsequently, more than 3000 vacancies were created in Higher Secondary schools alone. 7322 were appointed in primary schools as LPST and 4446 as UPST, taking the appointment figures to five times more than in UED tenure. Incidentally, majority of these appointments pertain to the aided school sector.
