Mortal Remains of Oomen Chandy Brought To T’Puram; Public Homage at Puthupally House, Durbar Hall

Thiruvananthapuram : The body of former Chief Minister Oomen Chandy has been brought to Thiruvananthapuram by special aircraft from Bengaluru. Senior leaders received the body from air ambulance at airport  around 2:30 pm. Minister V Sivankutty reached the airport on behalf of the government.

From the airport, Oomen Chandy’s body was fetched to his home “Puthupally House” in Jagathy. KPCC President K Sudhakaran, Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, MM Hassan, Kodikunnil Suresh, VS Sivakumar, several other leaders and Party workers  accompanied the body from airport. Large crowds gathered for a glimpse on each side of the streets as the ambulance with Oomen Chandy passed by.

From his home in Jagathy, Oomen Chandy’s body will be laid at Datbar  hall for homage before being laid at St. Geoge Orthodox Cathedral in Palayam in the evening. Close to 6 pm, the body shall be fetched to Indira Bhavan, the KPCC headquarters. The body will  be transported in  mourning procession to the leader’s hometown of Puthupally in Kottayam at seven in the morning tomorrow. After being kept at Tirunkkara Maidan during day, the body shall brought to Puthupally late evening. Funeral services will be held at Puthupally church Thursday 2 pm.

In Bengaluru, Oomen Chandy’s body was first brought to former minister t John’s residence in the city for public homage. There, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and  others paid their last respects .
