Thiruvananthapuram : Congress leaders exercised careful restraint in their reaction over Rahul Gandhi’s decision that defied group managers in appointing the new KPCC president.
While most leaders limited their response to “all good wishes”, Mullappally recalled piognant moments from the past. “With happiness, I step down,” he told thre waiting media. I was made to step down on 5th day after Rajiv Gandhi praised me as a good Youth Congress President, he recalled while driving away from KPCC premises on Wednesday.
Ramesh Chennithala who initially restricted himself to Facebook with “good wishes”, headed for news channel shows late evening. . “High Command’s decision came amid our lack of any recommendation. We accept that decision,” he told on television. The restraint reportedly came on advice of Oomen Chandy who cautioned against any reaction in public. KC Joseph who came up on TV too spoke in mellowed tones. Senior leaders also paid a courtesy call at residence fo the new KPCC president.
