Murder Unacceptable; Party Workers Must Take Lead To Restore Peace: Kodiyeri

Web Desk(Tvm)Updated: Thursday Apr 8, 2021

Thalasserry:  Whatever  provocations there might be, no situation should culminate in killing, said CPI(M) Politburo member Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. A murder is unjustifiable, no matter who commits it. There should be vigil to ensure such occurrences do not repeat.   Party workers should take lead to bring back peace. Nobody  should fall for  any kind of provocation, said Kodiyeri, speaking to news reporters in Thalassery on Thursday.

The party’s state  convention  clarified there should occur no  no political clash or murder anywhere. It also urged other political parties to take similar stand. However there was no response forthcoming in this regard from them.  We however continue to maintain that stand steadfast, Kodiyeri told reporters.

We are open to discussing political differences.  Leaders had held bi-lateral talks to end confrontation between LDF and BJP workers. Political murders have come down significantly since LDF govt came to power. Polling too was largely peaceful this time around. A few unsavoury incidents were reported post polls - something that should not have happened.

Attacking people in their homes or party offices is something that should never ne allowed to happen. Responsible political parties must not adopt stance like boycotting of peace meetings. I was District Secretary at the time when beloved KV Sudeesh was brutally murdered. Political parties must act level-headed when such situations arise. They should become willing to hold talks. CPI(M) is ready to hold peace talks with any party or organisations, said Kodiyeri. Municipal Vice Chairman Vazhail Sasi too attended the press meet.
