Murders Over Rejected Love Should Be Viewed On Par With Honour Killings: CM

Thiruvananthapuram : Love does not mean power to assault or kill another person, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. Such occurrences should be opposed for vehemently as with honour killings. Each individual has a right to decide how he or she should live and with whom, said CM, responding to submission form Najeeb Kantapuram in context of Drishya murder in Kanthapuram.

21-year-old Drishya was brutally stabbed to death by a Manjeri youth who broke into her house in Elamkulam, Perinthalmanna. The assailant also viscously attacked Drishya\s younger sister with the knife. Perinthalmanna police had launched investigations following the incident and arrested the culprit Vineesh the very same day. He confessed to the crime and claimed he was enraged by Drishya’s rejection of him.  He also confessed to burning down Drisha\s father’s shop  the previous day, causing a loss of over Rs 50 lakh according to complaint lodged in that regard. The PWD team is evaluating value of the razed down building and the arson  damage.
