Kochi : The High Court on Thursday ruled that the doctors who carried out Narco tests on alleged culprits in Abhaya case cannot be crossed as witnesses.
The order overturns CBI Court directive which said forensic doctors Krishna Veni and Praveen Prathappa could be examined as witnesses in the trial.
Justice Alexander Thomas in his ruling today, prohibits cross-examination of all eight persons related to the Narco tests conducted on Fr Thomas Kottoor and Sister Sephy - the main suspects in the alleged murder that took place 27 years ago.
19-year-old Sister Abhaya’s body was found in the well of St Pius Convent in Kottayam, on 27 March. 1992. Though crime branch shuts the case as suicide, a CBI probe concludes the death as homicide and charges Fr Thomas Kottoor, Fr Poothrikkayil and Sr Sephy for the murder.
