National Highway Nearing Goal; New Flyover Construction In Kuttippuram Progressing At Fast Pace

Ponnani :  Highway works are progressing speedily in state. The construction is patterned after  foreign highway models, incorporating the latest in technology bound to  astound everyone. Works at both reaches in the district are progressing at speeds faster than estimated.

At Kuttipuram, flyover construction is advancing very speedily, although work had been halted briefly due to  harathapuzha rushing strong from heavy rains. Machinery from the site had  been shifted to site in  Ponnani’s Kannoli where bridge works were in progress.  However, with weather easing, Kuttipuram flyover works have resumed and on fasttrack.

The aim  is to complete construction before the contract period, said the  contracting company, KNR. National Highway regional officer, BL Meena, reached the district to take stock of the work progresses.

National highway in the district is being constructed over a 72-km length in two reaches, namely - from Ramanattukara to Valancheri and Valancheri to Kappirikkad, the costs of which sum to  Rs 4200 crores. 70 structures remain to be demolished in the first reach of Venniyur region while 15 buildings have to  be taken down in the second reach in Velliyankode’s Perumbadappu Village.   In Ponanni taluk, tarring works are progressing in Ayinkalam’s Thavanoor region and subway works are ongoing in Panthapalam.

Some of these structures are being legally disputed and will hence,  be taken over via Executive Magistrate.  The demolition tenders for them are meanwhle being scrutinised.  Also, works of subway at road-cross and overbridge are ongoing in this reach.
